Applicant & Member Support for TennCare CHOICES, Employment and Community First (ECF) CHOICES & Katie Beckett Waiver Programs

LTSS stands for long-term services & supports. TennCare provides several long-term services & supports programs including: CHOICES, ECF CHOICES, and Katie Beckett. The Beneficiary Support System provides information and support to applicants and/or members of these TennCare programs.

Do you need help applying for TennCare?

Call TennCare Connect for free at 1-855-259-0701 to get help over the phone.

Do you have a disability?  Someone can even come to your house to help you apply for TennCare. Just call your local Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) at 1-866-836-6678. It’s free.

Disability Rights TN (DRT) contracts with TennCare to help people who are enrolled, or would like to enroll, in the CHOICES, ECF CHOICES, and Katie Beckett waiver programs. This is called the Beneficiary Support System.

Here are some ways the Beneficiary Support System can help you:

  • Explain TennCare member rights and responsibilities
  • Answer questions about TennCare programs
  • Communicate with TennCare ofn your behalf
  • File and resolve concerns or complaints
  • File appeals or find out about an appeal you’ve filed
  • Connect you to help so you can apply for CHOICES, ECF CHOICES, or Katie Beckett
  • Answer other questions about your TennCare benefits or community supports available

No one is treated in a different way because of race, beliefs, language, birthplace, disability, religion, sex, color or age.

After you contact DRT, your issue will be reviewed by Support Specialists. Here’s what can happen next:

  • You may receive information and resources to help solve your issue.
  • You may be referred to DRT’s intake team to further explore your case.
  • You may be referred to TennCare, your TennCare health plan, or someone else for next steps. DRT can help with these next steps.

Community Living Supports (CLS) Ombudsman

CLS is a type of support you can receive in your home if you are enrolled in CHOICES or the Employment and Community First (ECF) CHOICES programs. The CLS Ombudsman is available to answer questions, make sure you know your rights, and give support to people who receive the CLS service.   Call 1-866-836-6678 for free from anywhere in the state to be directed to your nearest AAAD

Medicare Beneficiary Ombudsman (MBO)

The MBO helps you with Medicare-related issues. These can be complaints, grievances, and information requests. The MBO makes sure you know about your Medicare rights and protections. It also makes sure you know how to get your concerns resolved.  Do you have a dual eligible special needs plans (D-SNP)?  Do you have issues with your plan or 1-800-Medicare? When you call 1-800-MEDICARE, ask them to send your complaint or inquiry to the MBO. The MBO will help you resolve your issues.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman

This program helps those getting services in nursing homes, assisted care living facilities, and homes for the aged. Do you live in a Long-Term Care facility and have a problem or an issue?  Or are you a family member of a resident? The Long-Term Care Ombudsman can help you find the answers you need.
